Life has some good surprises in store, and Les
Forges is one of them…
Denis Marcellot was born in the Sancerre region, and he chose
to open his restaurant not far from his roots in the small village
of Cosne-sur-Loire, in the heart of the Loire Valley, between
the Berry and Nivernais regions.
It is a well appreciated stop, and rightly so!
If one is to say the whole truth, Les Forges has a motivated
Chef, who shows it in the plates.
He composes gourmet dishes, with carefully chosen products,
well prepared and tastefully presented.
Particular attention is given to seasonal products,
the Chef is always on the lookout for them, and he combines
them with the region’s plentiful resources.
Fish has become king at Les Forges, and be it
crayfish, sole or an occasional eel, they all know how to please
the most demanding taste buds.
No rules here, this is a cuisine of the heart, where sweet and
sour accents, flavours and colours are often found in the composition
of a surprising –but not revolutionary– menu.
You will be welcomed into a calm décor, with warm colours
and tables with soft lighting and enough space between them.
The hostess and Chef’s wife, Catherine, originally from Brest,
knows how to be attentive and is always full of smiles, to make
this relaxing moment unforgettable.
You will discover a little regional restaurant
well worth a stop!
